Global wireless broadband leader Inseego Corp. and 5G innovation ecosystem Khasm Labs teamed up to launch a private 5G network at Washington United Terminals (WUT), a major container terminal at the Port of Tacoma, Washington.

The deployment leveraged Inseego’s cutting-edge Fixed Wireless Access (FWA) and MiFi® Mobile Hotspot devices, all managed remotely via the Inseego Connect™ cloud platform, providing WUT with essential, reliable connectivity to power its critical port operations.

The challenge: Unreliable connectivity slows global trade

Spanning over 103 acres, Washington United Terminals (WUT) is a vital hub for international commerce in the Pacific Northwest. The facility handles high volumes of cargo and relies heavily on real-time data for critical functions like container loading, storage, and logistics.

However, WUT was being hindered by unreliable connectivity. This instability resulted in costly operational delays, frequent job restarts, and frustration among staff and drivers. Determined to boost efficiency and gain a competitive edge, WUT partnered with Khasm Labs to integrate a transformative suite of innovative, private 5G-ready solutions to overhaul their network infrastructure.

  • For longshoremen and mobile workers: The MiFi X PRO 5G mobile hotspot was favored for its ease of use and versatility. It can wirelessly connect up to 32 devices and features an Ethernet port for connecting legacy equipment.
