BVRP Software Enters Licensing Agreement With Novatel Wireless, Inc.

DENVER, SEPTEMBER 3, 2002 – BVRP Software USA, a leading OEM and after-market provider of PC communications software, today announced that it has completed a licensing agreement with Novatel Wireless, Inc. (Nasdaq: NVTL), a leading provider of wireless data access solutions. Under the agreement Novatel Wireless will bundle BVRP’s Mobile PhoneTools connectivity software with its Merlin G201TM and Merlin G301TM Wireless PC Modems.

Mobile PhoneTools is designed to automate and simplify the set-up of digital wireless cellular connections on a laptop or handheld device so users can achieve high-speed data connectivity anywhere, anytime with ease. The software includes a “Wizard” with built in GPRS and CDMA network and device profiles to enable “one-click” connectivity configuration.

In addition to making the set-up of a digital cellular connection truly effortless, Mobile PhoneTools provides a complete suite of wireless communications applications for the PC or PDA. Users can even send and receive voice calls from their laptop or PDA, with an image of the user’s cellular phone model as a fun and intuitive interface for managing phone functions on the screen.

“As we start to see increasing interest in GPRS solutions in the U.S., Europe, and Asia we will continue to enhance our leading wireless data connectivity products for our customers,” said Owen Stephenson, senior vice president of GPRS operations for Novatel Wireless. “BVRP’s Mobile PhoneTools replaces a patchwork of utilities and applications with one integrated, comprehensive solution for digital cellular communications. BVRP’s software productivity solutions are designed to drive wireless data usage while the no-hassle configuration program can help eliminate user frustration and cut down on service calls.”

“We are excited to be partnering with a leader in providing wireless data solutions to business and consumer markets,” said Bob Lang, president, BVRP Software USA. “This will enable Novatel Wireless’ customers to easily harness the power of their PDA’s and PC’s in mobile communications and provide them with a whole range of powerful and practical tools. Now that high-speed mobile data networks are being launched in the U.S., we will be aggressively marketing the software here,” Mr. Lang added.

Mobile PhoneTools was launched in Europe earlier this year as part of the roll-out of high-speed wireless digital cellular services. There it has been bundled with more than six million GPRS-enabled phones from companies including Philips and Alcatel.

MobilePhone Tools enables PC users to:

  • SMS – Send SMS messages from a standard keyboard with support for messages of more than standard length (160 characters)
  • e-mail – Send attached documents, priority management, deferred send, mail check
  • Fax – Send almost any Windows document with choice of personalized cover pages, personalized fax broadcasts

  • Voice – Send and receive voice calls with a cellular phone image on the screen as a familiar interface
