What is RAN?

Radio Access Network, or RAN, is a network of radio transmitters and receivers that are used to communicate with mobile devices, such as cell phones. RANs are typically designed to cover a large geographic area, such as a city or country. Radio access networks are often used to offer network slicing. This allows service providers to offer different types of services, such as voice, data, and video, on the same physical infrastructure.
