What is Edge AI?
Edge AI is a term for AI applications that are deployed at the edge of a network, typically close to the data source. Edge AI is used to enable real-time decision making and improve the efficiency of data processing.
One of the key benefits of edge AI is that it can help to reduce the amount of data that needs to be transmitted across a network. By processing data locally, edge AI can reduce the need for data to be sent to a centralised location for processing. This can save bandwidth and reduce latency, as well as improve privacy and security.
Another benefit of edge AI is that it can allow for more accurate and timely decisions to be made. By deploying AI algorithms closer to the data source, edge AI can provide real-time insights that can be used to make decisions. For example, edge AI can be used to monitor a manufacturing process and make adjustments on the fly to improve quality or efficiency.
