-- Company Provides Free Devices that Connect Shelters, Mobile Command Centers and other Agencies to Mobile 4G LTE for Reliable Voice and Data Communications --
SAN DIEGO & SACRAMENTO, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 31, 2019-- Inseego Corp. (Nasdaq: INSG), a 5G and intelligent IoT device-to-cloud solutions pioneer, today announced that it has donated 4G LTE MiFi® mobile hotspots to the Northern California VOAD network to provide critical communications during the power outages and wildfires that have displaced hundreds of thousands of residents statewide. Inseego is also offering 4G LTE mobile hotspots to agencies in need upon request. In addition to these fully activated hotspots, powered by Sprint and Verizon, Inseego is donating backup batteries and solar-powered portable chargers for recharging wireless devices in remote locations and harsh conditions.
“In a wildfire or extended power outage, cellular communications are more critical than ever,” said Inseego Chairman and CEO Dan Mondor. “Our MiFi mobile hotspots take a single cellular connection and turn it into an instant WiFi network that supports up to 16 users. In addition to delivering 4G LTE communications, these hotspots provide exceptionally long battery life, and can even be used to boost the battery power on connected devices. Whether it’s a remote command center for first responders, a shelter for displaced residents, a media crew needing to upload footage from the front lines or a reliable connection for utility crews, these devices can truly be a lifesaver,” said Mondor. “We’re pleased to see our technology play such a powerful role in helping our fellow Californians.”
“We’re grateful to companies like Inseego who are stepping up to provide this much-needed support. Through our close coordination with various non-profits, community organizations and agencies such as FEMA, our network will ensure that these resources are deployed to help ensure reliable communications using the widely available 4G LTE networks,” said Northern California VOAD Vice Chair, Valeri Mihanovich. “This is an excellent example of a public/private partnership that will make a meaningful difference, not only during this wildfire season, but also in the years ahead.”
