OQO Demonstrates Model 02 Ultra Mobile PC With Embedded HSDPA Capability at Novatel Wireless Booth at 3GSM World Congress

BARCELONA, Spain, Feb 12, 2007 /PRNewswire via COMTEX News Network/ -- OQO Inc., mobile computing innovator and creator of the groundbreaking model 02 computer, today showcased the award-winning model 02 computer with integrated HSDPA 3G high-speed wireless data capability at the Novatel Wireless (Nasdaq: NVTL) booth at the 3GSM World Congress 2007 in Barcelona. This technology demonstration further extends OQO's leadership position in the burgeoning UMPC Pro category, and signals the company's intent to offer products internationally.

The OQO model 02 computer, introduced at CES on January 7, 2007, is the world's smallest fully-functional Windows Vista(TM) PC. With the power of a notebook computer in the form factor of a pocketable handheld device, the model 02 redefines productivity for the mobile professional.

Following OQO's announcements of product certification in the United States with major domestic wireless operators, OQO is today conducting a public demonstration at the 3GSM World Congress 2007 of UMTS/HSDPA 3G wireless capability embedded in the model 02 computer. HSDPA (High Speed Downlink Packet Access) is a global standard and natural evolutionary path for GSM-based networks to provide high-speed wireless data capability, with 142 HSDPA operator commitments in 65 countries.

"OQO has the top PC system and mobile product design team in the world, and it's exciting for us to showcase another industry breakthrough by incorporating HDSPA mobile broadband technology into the model 02's ultra small form factor," said Bob Rosin, senior vice president of marketing & alliances, OQO. "We have received many requests to offer the model 02 computer with high-speed 3G wireless capability outside of the United States, and this demonstration is the first step in that direction."

"We are pleased to collaborate with OQO to demonstrate 3G HSDPA wireless capability in the OQO model 02 computer here in Barcelona," said Brad Weinert, acting CEO and COO, Novatel Wireless. The OQO model 02 will be featured at the Novatel Wireless booth at the 3GSM World Congress 2007.

"The handheld computer is being reinvented, and OQO has done some incredible work in designing a product that is a pleasure to hold and to use. With built-in wireless broadband capability and Windows Vista, mobile professionals will achieve a new level of productivity with the OQO model 02," said Tim Bajarin, Principal Analyst, Creative Strategies, Inc.

The OQO model 02 computer with embedded HSDPA capability features unprecedented mobility at only 142mm x 84mm x 25mm in size, just 450 grams in weight, and with ergonomic backlit keyboard and TouchScrollers; flexibility with a full docking station and support for dual external displays at up to 1920 x 1200 pixels through digital (HDMI/DVI) and analog (VGA) video interfaces and OQO DisplaySense technology; and power with up to 1.5GHz CPU, 1GB of DDR2 SDRAM, shock-mounted 60GB HDD with active drop detection, and compatibility with standard PC-based applications.

OQO today is announcing a technology demonstration of HSDPA 3G wireless capability in the model 02 computer, and is not presently making available a product for sale with such functionality. Availability of the OQO model 02 computer with embedded HSDPA capability in specific geographies may be announced at a future date. With this announcement, OQO does not make any representations about product availability.
