Novatel Wireless Provides PTC with Newest HSDPA Ready PC Card Modems for Poland's WEDGE (UMTS/EDGE) Network

WARSAW, Poland & SAN DIEGO, Feb 06, 2006 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- Novatel Wireless, Inc. (Nasdaq:NVTL), a leading provider of wireless broadband access solutions, today announced it is supplying Polska Telefonia Cyfrowa (PTC), the operator of high-speed networks across Poland, with Novatel Wireless' Merlin U740 PC Card Modems. Under an existing supply agreement, Novatel Wireless will provide Poland with one of the market's first HSDPA-ready Data Cards for PTC's WEDGE (UMTS/EDGE) 3G network. The Merlin U740 is available immediately in PTC retail stores across Poland.

The Merlin U740 runs on the carrier's Era network 'blueconnect' service (www.blueconnect.pl), the region's fastest wireless Internet service with no limit on data transfer or connection time. The Card provides PTC's ten million business and consumer subscribers with 3G wireless broadband access to email, the Internet and corporate data at speeds of up to 384 kilobits per second.

The flexible architecture of the Merlin U740 allows PTC to launch it as a WEDGE PC Card Modem, which is upgradeable to High Speed Downlink Packet Access (HSDPA) for future PTC network developments. As PTC upgrades to an HSPDA network, subscribers using the Merlin U740 can automatically connect without having to purchase a new PC Card Modem, additional hardware or upgrade rate plans. The Merlin U740 enables mobile workers to easily and conveniently stay connected to customers, partners and co-workers from any location within PTC's network, boosting overall productivity. Novatel Wireless' Merlin U740 Card is one of the most advanced on the market, making it a truly beneficial solution for end customers.

"PTC customers on Poland's WEDGE mobile network now have the convenience of high-speed broadband connectivity from multiple locations across the country," said Rob Hadley, vice president of sales for Novatel Wireless. "As the long-term PC Card provider to PTC, Novatel Wireless continues to lead the industry in innovation and customer wins. Our ongoing relationship with PTC is testament to the superior wireless broadband solutions we offer and strong relationships we build with top carriers worldwide."
