Novatel Wireless' CTO Honored by Prestigious Georgia Institute of Technology

SAN DIEGO, Dec 12, 2006 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- Novatel Wireless, Inc. (Nasdaq:NVTL), a leading provider of wireless broadband access solutions, today announced that its senior vice president and chief technology officer, Dr. Slim Souissi, has been inducted into the 2006 Academy of Distinguished Engineering Alumni at the Georgia Institute of Technology. Dr. Souissi is being honored for his numerous professional achievements in wireless broadband technology.

"We are pleased to recognize Dr. Souissi for his extraordinary research efforts in wireless technology, as the creator of 33 U.S. patents, and for his technical leadership at Novatel Wireless," said Don Giddens, dean of the college of engineering at the Georgia Institute of Technology. Membership into the Georgia Tech Alumni Academy is reserved for Georgia Tech alumni who have made significant contributions to his or her profession, the Georgia Tech Institute or society-at-large. Recipients of the award will become members of the Academy of Distinguished Engineering Alumni. The Academy's ceremony is held annually with only 15 outstanding individuals selected each year nationwide.

Dr. Slim Souissi has served as senior vice president and chief technology officer for Novatel Wireless since 2004, and was previously the Company's vice president and chief of technology from 2002 to 2004. He holds a PhD and a Master of Science in Electrical Engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology, and also has earned a Diploma of Engineer in Digital Signal Processing from the Ecole Superieure d'Electricite of France.
