Novatel Wireless Announces Continued Innovation of Next Generation Wireless with EV-DO PCI Express Mini Card Modem for Laptops and Other Wireless Devices

SAN DIEGO, Feb 1, 2005 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- Novatel Wireless, Inc. (Nasdaq:NVTL), a leading provider of wireless broadband access solutions, today announced the Novatel Wireless Expedite EV620(TM) EV-DO PCI Express Mini Card for EV-DO networks. PCI Express Mini Card is a form factor specification designed in mobile platforms and is optimized for most laptop systems. The Expedite EV620 provides wireless broadband data access on EV-DO networks at speeds up to 2.4 Mbps and is designed for easy integration into multiple laptop platforms and other wireless devices. Samples of the Expedite EV620 PCI Express Mini Card are currently available for integration with platform manufacturers.

The Expedite EV620 will enable wireless high-speed streaming video and audio, secure access to emails with large attachments and other corporate information stored behind firewalls. The Expedite EV620 will also include receive diversity on 800 and 1900 MHz band CDMA2000 1xEV-DO and CDMA2000 1X networks, providing reliable connectivity, maximum data throughput and efficient management of device power consumption.

The PCI Express Mini Card design of the Expedite EV620 is standard in most laptop platforms, allowing for quick and easy integration, and minimizes space consumption on the laptop motherboard. This enables platform manufacturers to reduce integration costs, retain a sleek form factor and maintain external slots for other functions. With seamless high-speed network connectivity on notebooks in growing demand, the Expedite EV620 is an ideal solution that addresses the needs of laptop manufacturers.

"The addition of the Expedite EV620 will further diversify our product portfolio, expand our addressable market and put us in a strong position to capitalize on the development of embedded wireless broadband data solutions," said Peter Leparulo, chief executive officer for Novatel Wireless. "The PCI Express Mini Card form factor makes the Expedite EV620 a perfect turnkey solution for large volume device integration and meets the demand for seamless broadband connectivity."
