Bell launches 42 Mbps capable Novatel Wireless U547 Turbo Stick

First data device in North America to operate on ultra-fast Dual Cell HSPA+ networks

MONTREAL, Nov. 23 2010 -- Bell Mobility today announced the exclusive Canadian launch of the Novatel Wireless U547 Turbo Stick, the first 42 Megabit per second (Mbps) capable USB modem. Last week, Bell announced it was the first wireless company in North American to deploy leading-edge Dual Cell technology, which doubles the speed of HSPA+ mobile data service from up to 21 Mbps to as high as 42 Mbps.

"When paired with a laptop or netbook, the Novatel Wireless U547 Turbo Stick enables Bell Mobility clients to access the Internet, stream video, or download documents and images at what we believe are the fastest speeds commercially available from any wireless provider in North America," said Adel Bazerghi, Senior Vice President of Products at Bell Mobility. "Bell is proud to be able to offer this uniquely powerful device first on Canada's Best Network."

Bell has launched 42 Mbps service initially in Toronto and will expand service to more Canadian cities and towns through 2011. For more on Dual Cell HSPA+ technology, please visit bell.ca/speed.

"Combining Bell Mobility's HSPA+ Dual Cell network with our U547 turbo stick will deliver an ultra-fast on-the-go mobile Internet experience highly compelling to Bell Mobility's business and consumer clients," said Rob Hadley, Chief Marketing Officer at Novatel Wireless. "We are very excited to be part of this industry first in North America and to continue our focus on developing devices that provide the best mobile Internet experience in the market."

With download speeds up to 42 Mbps, upload speeds up to 5.7 Mbps and advanced antenna technologies to maximize data throughput and operating range, the U547 is an easy plug-and-play solution compatible with both Windows and Mac based operating systems. It also includes memory storage up to 32 GB via MicroSD.

The Novatel Wireless U547 USB Modem is available for $49.95 on a three-year term or for $199.95 with no term. A $10 add-on feature is available on all Mobile Internet pricing plans to enable Bell clients to double their speeds up to 42 Mbps. For more information, please visit Bell.ca/U547. In service areas not yet covered by Bell Mobility's Dual Cell enhancement, the device offers download speeds up to 21 Mbps.
