a2network Corporation Launches Novatel Wireless MiFi 2372 Intelligent Mobile Hotspot in Japan

SAN DIEGO and TOKYO, April 9, 2010 /PRNewswire via COMTEX News Network/ -- Novatel Wireless, Inc. (Nasdaq: NVTL), a provider of wireless broadband access solutions, today announced that a2network Corporation, a leading Mobile Virtual Network Operator (MVNO) for DoCoMo in Japan, is launching the Novatel Wireless' MiFi(TM) 2372 Intelligent Mobile Hotspot.

The MiFi platform represents the industry's first Intelligent Mobile Hotspot, a new category of mobile broadband that lets users put their world of content, services and connectivity in their pocket. Unlike existing router solutions that require an external broadband modem and serve only to provide connectivity, the MiFi platform creates a personal cloud of high-speed Internet connectivity that can be easily shared between multiple users and up to five Wi-Fi devices such as laptops, cameras, gaming devices and multimedia players.

"As a leading MVNO in Japan, a2network Corporation has the established expertise to meet the increasing demand for innovative and easy to use mobile connectivity solutions for both business and casual use," said Rob Hadley, CMO, Novatel Wireless. "With the MiFi 2372 Intelligent Mobile Hotspot, a2network Corporation is providing its customers with unrivaled high speed Internet access for their wireless devices anywhere they want to go."

The MiFi 2372 platform supports 800MHz, 1900MHz, and 2100MHz bands for local service in Japan, as well as for global roaming. It also includes a microSD slot for expandable memory that can be accessed and shared over the Wi-Fi link with up to five simultaneous users, located within 10 meters of the unit. For its innovative design and engineering, the MiFi Intelligent Mobile Hotspot was named the "Best of Innovations" award winner in the "Enabling Technologies" category at the International Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2010 in Las Vegas, among the many other awards garnered since its launch.

"a2network Corporation is dedicated to delivering the most advanced wireless solutions to users across Japan, and throughout our operating regions worldwide," said Mr. Akihito Monta, CEO, a2network Corporation. "We are excited to be the first MVNO in Japan to deliver the unprecedented functionality and access of the Novatel Wireless MiFi 2372."

The MiFi 2372 device will be available through a2network Corporation at the end of April 2010.
